Introduction

Phillip is the President & CEO of 3 small businesses where he provides executive level leadership in high-volume, expansive environments by leveraging a robust business acumen in several key, functional areas including: strategy and operations, finance & accounting, manufacturing, recruiting, human resources along with asset and resource management. He has successfully delivered as a cultural change agent as he is passionate and driven to help the team reach full potential and achieve collective success. He enjoys contributing to the development of others through mentoring and coaching. Phillip is a passionate professional and driven to conquer challenges through collaboration with the team to achieve successful results. His entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to results and commitment to integrity makes him trusted partner, coach, advisor and industry consultant to stakeholders, clients, peers and employees, alike. 

Education & Training

In 2006, Phillip graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Houston. In 2014, Phillip completed his pursuit of a graduate degree from the University of Houston – Clear Lake by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Leadership. 

Additionally, Phillip is trained and certified in several key management areas that include a training focus in Leadership, Human Resources, ISO 9001/9002, Quality Management Systems (QMS) Leader, Manufacturing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Optimization, OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Leadership, is a Licensed Irrigator (LI) with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) & is a certified installer of Latham Fiberglass Pools.   

Career Background & Achievements Summary

Phillip started his work experience mowing several neighborhood lawns when he was just 12 years old. By high school, Phillip’s business, Complete Lawn Care, had grown to over 100 residential clients and several commercial clients, later adding small construction services such as fences and decks to his service offerings. During Phillip’s growth as a businessman & entrepreneur, he has had the privilege and honor to work in partnership with some of the best industry leading organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies including Halliburton, Republic Services and Monsanto. Phillip also has extensive tenure with the green waste recycling industry leader, Living Earth and has owned and operated several small business start-ups. Additionally, these prestigious organizations represent several key industries including Oil & Gas, Waste & Environmental Renewable Recycling, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Landscaping and Construction. 

Currently, Phillip, along with his wife, April, are the proud owners of Accent Landscape Management & Dreamscapes Oasis & Outdoors, supporting the landscaping and pool construction industries. Recently, in 2021, Phillip started Castle Innovations, which is focused on providing small construction of unique structures such as, but not limited to, castles, forts, tree houses, boathouses and other innovative and exceptional projects. In addition to construction projects, Castle Innovations has been and will expand property management activities of the “original” Lake Livingston Castle built in 2006 by April & Phillip Sheppard and the “new” Burg Sheppard Castle being built currently by Castle Innovations staff and contractors. These small businesses are a testament to hard work and determination by developing existing and startup enterprises, that provide outstanding results in a competitive construction market, by leveraging unique, inspirational solutions to their customer & clients. 

Family & Interests

Phillip was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has been married to his wife, April, since 2006. They have 3 amazing young children: Kaiser, Sebastian and Charlotte. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children and appreciates outdoor activities that include boating, camping and sports, as well as international & domestic traveling. Phillip is an avid sports fan and looks forward to opportunities to continue coaching his children as they grow and express interest in extra-curricular activities. Phillip holds dual citizenship with the United States and Germany and speaks German at a conversational level. 

In the next life chapter, Phillip seeks to purchase a Burg or Schloss in Germany to utilize partly as a personal residence for he and his family, but also as a rental, vacation rental & events venue to join the family of castles located in the USA. Phillip and his family enjoy the historical relevance of these German monuments and look forward to the opportunity to restore and preserve an historical castle in Germany in the very near future.
